1 - Lots of little cosmetic nicks and whatnot that I don’t really care about.
2 - Buttons and knobs on the srereo and HVAC are sticky (car was previously owned by a smoker).
3 - Missing the catalytic converter on the right side. Why is it missing? I don’t know, it just is, and pipe is welded between the header and the muffler. I don’t know how the dealer got this car to pass inspection.
4 - Exhaust leak. Guess which side.
5 - The alternator...which I just had replaced two weeks ago...just flat lined again, literally 45 minutes ago. (Thinking that the previous alternator trashed the battery now. I dunno.)
I know that buying this car specifically because the engine internals being fairly bulletproof didn't preclude accessories lasting as long as the block. I know that pumps and brake cylinders and belts will still need replacing. But just because I know, doesn't mean that it isn't frustrating.

I keep seeing one on ebay with 180k for 1600 obo. looks tempting but all the differed consumables could add up fast.

They definitely do. The timing belt alone is $2k, minimum. Timing belt interval is 90k miles, so I'd ask if it's had both of those done. Then you only have to worry about the alternator, distributor, belts, plugs, fuel pump, brake system...

When replacing alternators, it’s always a very good idea to replace the battery at the same time. A weak battery will kill an alternator.
